In Science Year 4 are learning about the jobs that the skeleton does, how it is structured and how it moves. We studied some fascinating skeletons in miniature that we found inside an owl pellet.
Owl pellets are the regurgitated remains of mice, voles and shrews. They are packed with the tiny remains of these small mammals, it was fascinating to discover all the tiny bones. We used keys to identify the bone type, also we used the skull to identify the vertebrate that the bones came from. It was absolutely fascinating! The pellet contents will be on display on the landing outside the year 4 classroom.
