Denstone College Preparatory School Uniform
DCPS has a very distinctive uniform and children wear it with a great deal of pride. All children must arrive at school smartly dressed in full school uniform. This is also the rule when they leave school. Special permission from the Headmaster must be sought for children to leave in anything but full school uniform. Furthermore we ask parents to ensure that while wearing the school uniform in public their child should appear and behave in such a way that would not dishonour the name of the school.
The School Motto accompanies the St. Chad’s Cross of the School Uniform.
The motto is:
“Lignum cruces arbor scientiae”
“The wood of the cross is the tree of knowledge”
St. Chad is the patron saint of Lichfield and of our school.
The Chapel is dedicated to St. Chad.
As-New Uniform Shop
We have a nearly new uniform shop at DCPS. It is situated upstairs in the Main Building. A timetable of when the shop is open is printed in the school calendar. For new starters, if the printed dates are not convenient, alternative times may be arranged by contacting Julie or Lizzie below. However, please be aware that the ladies who run the shop do so as volunteers and they are both working mums.
Rules for Uniform
- Hair – Long hair should be tied back, preferably with maroon hair bands or bobbles. Multi-coloured hair fashion accessories should be kept for wearing at home.
- We do not expect DCPS pupils to have skin-head haircuts or haircuts with a step. Boys’ hair should not obscure the eyes or the shirt collar.
- Jewellery – Pupils should not wear jewellery to school. If a pupil has pierced ears, sleepers or plain studs only may be worn. These must be taken out for all sport or covered with tape if within the first six weeks of being fitted.
- Watches – Please make sure your child’s watch is named. Engraved initials are the best option. Your child should not wear an expensive watch to school.
All articles should be named with Woven Name Tapes.
All Games Kit to be named on the outside, on left side (as worn).
Please sew hoops into the tracksuit tops and bottoms, aprons, blazers and coats to enable the children to hang them on their pegs.
