Coming to Denstone College Prep School is a real adventure.  We put everything we have into ensuring that our children receive the broadest education possible. With a 50 acre site at our disposal, we really are able to provide a wealth of opportunities that will prepare the children, not just for the challenges of senior school, but for whatever awaits them when they walk through the school gates for the last time and into the big, wide world.

Every school will always understandably be judged on its academic record and with over 60 scholarships and exhibitions being awarded to our pupils over the past five years by senior schools, we clearly do bring out the very best in our children.  We encourage children to excel, not just academically, but on the games field, in the art studio, musically and on the stage, but all of this is only part of what is a very big picture.

We have introduced 16 new activities to the children over the course of the past two years and these range from yoga to clay pigeon shooting, from rock climbing to origami and from archery to Beginners’ Spanish.   All of our children, and their families will have the opportunity to camp out in our beautiful grounds, to learn survival skills, including building and lighting a fire without matches, to participate in Forest School sessions with our three fully qualified practitioners and to join various committees to ensure that they are able to have a say in how our school is run.

It is no wonder that we are considered one of the leading, coeducational independent schools in Staffordshire and we go to great lengths to ensure that our parents feel part of our community.  Some of our after-school activities are for parents as well; there are supper evenings for both mums and dads and many parents help out around the school in numerous ways.

Outdoor learning is central to what we do here.  Children make dens, climb trees, have lessons in our canopied classroom (with a firepit for when it’s cold!) and go outside whatever the weather.

By its very nature, a prep school prepares children to move on to senior school in due course.  The vast majority of our top year go on to Denstone College, but some children do take up places at other schools, both locally and further afield.  Children are rigorously prepared for their entrance exams, regardless of which school they are moving on to and our record in this area speaks for itself.

I hope you enjoy browsing our website and look forward to welcoming you to our school in the future.

With best wishes,

Jeremy Gear
