The U11’s have had an extremely busy fortnight of fixtures. Due to different schools playing different sports in each term, we played a rugby match followed by two football matches. The rugby match, against Twycross, was a tricky fixture on a really tight pitch. It took us a while to try to adapt our tactics and we found ourselves three tries down. We normally look to play expansive rugby looking to pass the ball out wide, however, once we thought carefully about going into the ruck more often we played much better. James scored a fantastic try after great work from Luke. Harry and Fin tackled really well in the second half. Their coach made a special mention to Alfie and Bruce for their outstanding performances.

Two football fixtures saw one heavy win and one heavy loss. The performance against NULS was one of the finest I have seen from a Y6 team. James scored two outstanding goals and others from Luke and Bruce capped off a fine display. Adam, Emerson and William contributed well to an excellent performance. In our game against OVS, we failed to track the runners from midfield and after an initial excellent finish from James, we found ourselves leaking goals regularly. They had some good players and if it wasn’t for some last ditch tackles from Jude and fantastic saves from Will and Benny, the score could have been even worse. Football and rugby done, it’s onto a hockey match next week!
