U11A Netball v The Elms
The Elms – 3
DCPS – 8
The U11A netball team made a superb start to the term with a very hard fought 8-3 victory over The Elms School.
DCPS got off to a great start with Captain of Netball Georgina winning the toss, presenting Centre Grace the perfect opportunity to get the girls on to the attack immediately. Great teamwork between Goal Defence Georgina, Wing Defence Verity, Centre Grace, Wing Attack Isabelle G and shooters Daisy (GA) and Hannah (GS) led to an early lead as Hannah put the ball through the net for a 1-0 lead. 2 more goals swiftly followed for Hannah, and Daisy added a 4th for the team to end the first quarter 4-0 up.
The second quarter was much more even with Daisy scoring the only goal of the quarter for DCPS and The Elms also getting their first goal of the game.
The third quarter saw some changes with Darcie coming on as Wing Attack. Another goal each from Hannah and Daisy meant the third quarter finished with DCPS claiming an unassailable lead 7-2 at that point of the game.
The final quarter saw Izzy W much better positioned as Goal Shooter keeping position in the D helping link the play in the attack, allowing Hannah to score her 5th of the match and DCPS’s 8th goal. Meanwhile, The Elms scored their third goal of the game, despite having been incredibly limited in their shooting opportunities thanks, in no small part, for the outstanding effort and interception skills of Izzy C who, despite a foot height disadvantage, never moaned and ensured that she was consistently in the correct position to intercept, and to Captain Georgina for her jump and fingertip interceptions.
A brilliant start to the term for the team! Keep it up girls!!

U11B Netball v The Elms
The Elms – 4
DCPS – 9
The Under 11B started their netball term with a fantastic well earned 9-4 victory over The Elms School. Every girl who represented the team had a great work ethic putting in their best effort, using teamwork and quick passing and moving skills to the maximum. Some superb passing and moving from a combination of Captain Cleo, Vice-Captain Esther, Eloise, Uma, Evangeline, Darcie, Tilly, Phoebe, Emily, Caoimhe, Isla and SuShan led to sustained attacking play from DCPS leading to Caoimhe scoring 5 goals in her first appearance as Goal Shooter, as well as two for Phoebe and two for Isla giving them a 5 goal deficit over their opposition.
Girl of the Game:
Phoebe for her movement around the court, passing and goal scoring.
Caoimhe for her fantastic 5 goal haul for the team.
The victory for both teams was even more impressive given that some of the girls have never played netball for the school team previously, some of the girls only had just over an hour and a half session on Monday whilst others missed the session to attend a Drama Workshop. What amazing, adaptable and able girls we are blessed with at DCPS!!
