After a beautiful Christmas dinner and chocolate dessert, Year 3 enjoyed the tradition of showing off their Christmas hats. What a creative bunch! Well Done to Devon who won the prize for the best hat!
What a fantastic performance 3D gave this morning. They all worked so hard on their lines. In the process the children also learnt alot about the experiences of Victorian children, that we will build upon together in our History lessons. The children also learnt more about kindness, which is a theme which ran through our [...]
Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous day out at Sudbury's Museum of Childhood to support our work in History on the Victorians. The Victorian school teacher was very strict, as you can see from the photographs. We also discovered an old Denstone College cap on display from Victorian times.
This morning most of Main Prep were getting ready for exams. Our Monday morning assembly usually takes place in the school room with the whole of Main Prep. However, the school room was set up with examination desks. So in Year 3, we decided to hold our very own Monday morning assembly in our classroom. [...]
In History today Year 3 had a very special visitor, Mrs Edmonds, who spent the morning with us speaking about the Roll of Honour and the significance of the poppy, amongst lots of other things. The children discovered wonderful objects from Mrs Edmond's special box, took it in turns to make a poppy and were enchanted [...]
Today we looked very closely at different animal skulls in our Science lesson. We were particularly interested in the animals teeth. We worked out what diet the animals ate, if they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores? This information then helped us decide what animal the skull belonged too. Can you guess? Ask the your child [...]
This morning Year 3 got straight back to work after the half term holiday, organising food into the different food groups during our Science lesson. We then made our own food pyramid. We discussed how the food pyramid is designed to make healthy eating easier. The children explained how healthy eating is about getting the correct [...]
It was like a scene from 'Casualty' in Mrs Davies' First Aid club on Wednesday afternoon as the enthusiastic first aiders and casualties practised their arm slings and elevation slings. They also revisited the head bandage, not because they needed the practice, but just because it was so much fun! I'm still unclear as to [...]
As many of you may be aware, in the past I have trained adults to deal with First Aid. This is a subject I feel is vital for all to learn, young and old alike. So when I decided to run a First Aid After School Club I had no idea it would be such [...]
In English today Year 3 continued our work on writing instructions. In our pairs and step-by-step, we wrote a set of instructions explaining to Zapper the Alien how to put on a Denstone College Prep School jumper. We found out that it is more difficult than you think! The children produced some super instructions and [...]
