We were drawn in to different lands through the magical stories told by Mike on Monday. Year 4 really engaged with their story called Shingebis. Shingebis was the hero of the story, she faced many challenges and fought against the mighty North Wind. I shall not reveal the ending, you'll have to ask a Year [...]
Forest School this week had to move out of the forest (the Cedars) due to high winds. We had been attempting to put up tarpaulins to use as shelters however we found they were much more fun if we used them as huge sails down on the pitches! Here are some great photos from the [...]
Just the tonic, on a cold January morning, a walking tour of Uttoxeter! That and a visit to Redfern's Cottage that houses Uttoxeter Museum of Rural Life. We all learnt something new about our local town. An interesting and informative trip. If you are ever passing it is well worth a visit (it's free).
These photos were too good not to share. We had a lovely morning doing all things Egyptian. Derby Museum outreach supported the morning, we also had a visit from the High Priestess from the Temple of Isis. Our session ended with a wedding ceremony, it was a fun and fitting end to our Egyptian topic. [...]
We have had a lot of fun in the Cedars this term. I thought I should share some pictures from our Forest School sessions. We had another great session today, shelter building was well timed, just before the rain came down! Please remember warm layers and waterproof coats, winter is on its way!
Year 4 have been to visit Marchington Woodlands Church today. The weather was kind, we enjoyed a lovely walk through the gorgeous staffordshire countryside on our way there. Once there we searched the church grounds and buildings for clues about the past; the church wardens were on hand to help us out. We found [...]
Year 3 & 4 met in the Cedars for a buddy session. We started with a game of their choice: 40:40. I was impressed to see how the children developed the rule 'you must be touching the tree or someone touching the tree' to enable a huge long line that stretched into the woods! [...]
What a fabulous assembly Year 4, treemendous! I really don't know how you managed to learn all you did in just 2 weeks. Well done, I am very proud of you all. The Lorax really entertained us all (but did it sent Alfie to sleep?).
In order for Year 6 to see the history of the earth represented visually, they made a timeline that spanned 5 billion years, represented by a toilet roll. It was brilliant fun. It helped us to understand how long humans have been on earth relative to life itself. This learning linked to our unit on [...]
