D-Day Commemorations in F3

After a moving chapel service, in which the children learned about the various armed forces and their contribution to D-Day, F3 gathered outside with an envelope in their hands waiting to hear what their D-Day challenge would be. Their mission was to design gliders capable of carrying 6 toy soldiers and a tank. They had [...]

D-Day Planes!

Pre-Prep 2 rose splendidly to their D-Day challenge! They worked very quickly to design and build Hurricanes and Spitfires using card, plastic board, tubes, paper, glue and split pins. They then thought hard to decide how to propel their planes along the fishing line that ran across the classroom. Remembering how balloons worked well with [...]

The girls remained focused throughout their first innings, running well between the posts. Then it was the turn of Smallwood to apply their skills in throwing, catching and decision-making. They rose admirably to the challenge. Lola had [...]

Under 10 Rounders v Edenhurst and Terra Nova

On Wednesday May 21st the Smallwood U10 girls travelled to Cheshire for two great games of Rounders on a gloriously sunny afternoon. With the Y6 girls away enjoying themselves at PGL, it was a chance for the Y5s to rise to a challenge: both opposition teams were U11 level. Smallwood played Edenhurst first. Captain Rebecca elected to [...]

Sunshine and Smiles for our Dovedale Trip

We were very lucky with the weather, it meant we enjoyed a lovely day walking through the Dove valley. Lunch in a cave, a rock face shaped like a lion and getting to the bottom of 116 steps were some of the highlights that my class mentioned. The highlight for me was the courtesy that [...]
