Denstone College Preparatory School at Smallwood Manor is a co-educational preparatory school for children between the ages of 4 and 11. We are an inclusive school and operate a non-discriminatory policy on admissions.
imovid -19 – Changes to the Admissions Process
As a result of the Covid-19 restrictions, we have made a few changes to our admissions process for prospective pupils looking to join us in September 2021.
We can confirm that we are still accepting registrations for new pupils and that our registrar can be contacted below. To make things easier and safer for our prospective pupils and parents we have put in place the following:
Visits / Tours
We are conducting tours of the site during and after school hours and during the holidays. These will be conducted using social distancing. To book a tour please call our registrar directly via 07789 926831.
We are accepting registrations for new pupils from Reception to Year 6. Please download and complete our Registration Form and email to Emma Warrilow. We currently advise not to post registration forms as we cannot guarantee when access to the school site will be allowed for staff and visitors at this time. Once we have received the form, our registrar will be in touch to take you through the next stage of the process.
Meetings / Interviews
It is currently possible to speak with our Head, Mr Gear, via a phone call or video call at a time convenient to you. To contact him direct please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We normally invite prospective pupils to the school for a taster day. During this time they would be informally assessed in Maths and English. These tests can be done remotely given the exceptional circumstances that we are currently in. Following completion of these tests, we will also request school reports and a reference from your child’s current school.
As with assessments, we are currently unable to invite prospective pupils to the school for a taster day in order to meet their peers and class teachers. However, should the school re-open during the term, we will of course arrange for these to take place.
Offer of a Place
By adjusting our admissions policy as above, we will still be able to accept new registrations and offer school places for a September 2021 entry, despite the current restrictions we have on allowing access to the school site.
For further information please contact our Registrar, Mrs Emma Warrilow, via email@example.com or + 44 (0)7789 926831.
