Year 4 are intrepid explorers, today we walked through the very pretty countryside that surrounds the Smallwood Manor Estate. We hiked through dark tunnels, climbed hills and hid in grass meadows. It was a lot of fun.
The 10K loop had been predetermined by the children in their geography lesson. Each class member took a turn leading the group and navigating using the OS Explorer map.
We saw a lot of exciting things on the way, wildlife (alive and dead), a mystery moat, a brewery and many muddy puddles.
Year 4 are working towards achieving a John Muir Discovery Award, today will count towards this. He was someone who actively encouraged others to go out explore, discover, conserve and share wild places. We have done just that today. Hopefully Year 4 will be inspired to share John Muir’s message and go on more adventures.
