Press Release – Thursday 22nd Sept 2016

Denstone College Preparatory School (DCPS) were delighted to recently receive a visit from former Olympic bronze hockey medallist Lisa Prince.

Lisa, who has achieved a number of goals throughout her career including Olympic bronze medallist, England U18 Captain, European Cup Gold medallist, European Cup Winner’s Cup Gold medallist, England Over 40’s Captain and current member of England Women’s masters, spent time with the 9-11 year old girls giving them the benefit of her knowledge.

DCPS girls were given coaching drills for attacking, shooting and being more confident in front of goal – something which had a major impact in the game following Lisa’s coaching. We saw 7 goals scored for the Denstone College Prep School U11 Team by a number of different players.

The former Olympian also spent time answering some very difficult questions posed by the children where she explained some of her proudest moments were being selected to represent her country at international level and captaining her club and country and also explained the dedication and sometimes selfishness needed to achieve Olympic standard amongst her other achievements. However despite all of her accomplishments she was quick to say that she would gladly swap her hard earned bronze for an Olympic gold medal, something the current crop of GB Olympians recently achieved at the Rio Olympics.
