Denstone College Preparatory School Fundraising | The Woodard Langalanga Secondary School
Each year Denstone College Preparatory School at Smallwood Manor adopts a charity and pupils and parents then stage fundraising activities to raise funds.  This year Denstone College Preparatory School is raising funds to allow the Woodard School Group to build an affordable school in Kenya to celebrate the bicentenary of its founder, Nathanial Woodard’s birth.

The Woodard Langalanga Secondary School will be built in the shanty township of Langalanga.  Due to the lack of affordable secondary education in the region, of the 270 children that leave primary school each year, only around 40 to 50 stay on at school.

As a result, the Woodard Group has joined forces with UK-based charity, Kariandui School Trust (KST), which has built 14 primary schools in the region over the last 15 years.  The school will feature 12 classrooms, three science laboratories, a computer room, library, staffroom and administrative offices. As well as initially catering for 90 children, it will also bring much needed jobs and community facilities to the area.

More than £250,000 is needed to build the school and as a result, Woodard Schools, such as Denstone College Preparatory School are all doing their bit, by holding a wealth of imaginative fundraising activities.
