In hockey practice today, Year 3 and 4 have been down to the pitches to practice their passes. After a warm up with Miss Emma, Miss Bennett has been training the girls to hold their hockey sticks correctly when hitting the ball. The girls have enjoyed the drills and have been walloping the balls down the pitches. Both Year 3 and Year 4 actually look like they know what they’re doing and we can’t wait to see them play their first matches.
We would like to thank the three volunteers this week who tried out as a hockey goalkeeper. Caoimhe, Izzy L and Verity B were eager and happy to try on the goalkeepers outfit and practice. They showed determination and eagerness to learn to move with the cumbersome kit, and with continued practice and learning they’ll be confident and able to move a little more easily.
Just to add, it is important for the girls to have the correct kit, without it they will not be able to participate fully in the hockey sessions at school which could result in them not being match fit for upcoming games. (Kit includes shin pads and gum shields.)
