Under 11 netball v Yarlet

Denstone Prep – 29

Yarlet – 12

Under 11 netball moved indoor to a shrunken netball court at Yarlet School. Yarlet fielding a very much weakened team of mainly under 10s against Denstone Prep’s under 11A’s meant that the match was very much one-sided from the start.

Denstone Prep immediately took an unassailable lead in the first quarter, dominating play and putting 8 goals in the net to Yarlet’s 5. The second quarter followed suit with Denstone Prep showing their skills as they added a further 15 unanswered goals to their tally.

The third quarter saw Denstone add 4 more goals to Yarlets 2 and with the Denstone team now in positions they do not normally play or have trained in the final quarter saw Yarlet score 5 goals to Denstone’s 2.

The girls, putting all of the skills they had learned and practiced into the match showed just how slick they can be at getting the ball moving and quick passing – knowing where the ball is going to even before they’ve received it meant that against an already weakened team Denstone were untouchable at times.

Ultimately 10 goals from captain Amelia L, 6 goals from Sophie T, 11 goals from Pippa B and 2 goals from Jess B who were able to receive the ball time and time again from the defensive combination of Imogen V, Lola B, Jess, B, Amber D and Faith M along with slick centre and attacking play from Sophie H and Lexie B led Denstone Prep to a convincing victory.

Yarlet though, despite the mismatch were wonderful in their teamwork, always working together and being supportive of each other and praise from the Yarlet staff for our girls behaviour at match teas made this a day to smile with pride at the girls in year 6.
