The Elms U10 Rugby Festival

The U10s were invited to take part in The Elms Rugby Festival, along with another 9 schools from far and wide. Our four matches against Birkdale, Hill House, The Elms and Derby Grammar respectively saw us play particularly well, winning against Elms, drawing against Derby Grammar and unfortunately losing to a speedy Birkdale side and a physically large Hill House team.

We played our best rugby of the afternoon against Birkdale but unfortunately, they used the large pitch to their advantage and grabbed a couple of breakaway tries. The game against The Elms saw us defend very well and tackle strongly but not pass quite as well as in the first game. It was nice to come away with a victory without particularly be at our best. To be fair, the game against Hill House saw our worst performance of the afternoon, as our handling deteriorated and too many knock-ons gave Hill House too much possession. A very hard fought and deserved draw against a well matched Derby Grammar side rounded off a really enjoyable and worthwhile afternoon for the boys. Well done to all!
