Smallwood Manor: 8½               8½ :Edenhurst

Smallwood Manor under 9s played host to Edenhurst under a beautiful blue skied sunny Thursday afternoon.  Smallwood won the toss and Captain Su En elected to send her team into bat.  Smallwood were soon off the mark with Ellie and Zara hitting ½ rounder each and a full rounder from Amber allowing Smallwood to set a target of 2 rounders.  Edenhurst then went into bat chasing and had it not been for Milli doing some fabulous fielding work to recover the ball and run and stump 3rd post to prevent an assured rounder and Issy Ast with some great fielding work to field the ball quickly to Su En at 2nd post to prevent ½ rounder, Edenhurst could have amassed a big lead.  As it was, it took Issy Ast to produce the moment of the game with a stunning mid – air catch above her head to ultimately limit Edenhursts score to 2 ½ rounders giving them ½ rounder lead at the end of the first innings.

Smallwood then took to the batting square for the second time and having started to play themselves into the game, contributions from Issy Ast; Issy Ash; Lola; Jess and Tyra achieved a total of 6½ rounders from their second innings and 8½ rounders in total.  Now assured from their first innings display Smallwood built on their fielding.  Consistent and assured bowling from Lola and an excellent fielding innings from Amelia to stump out two players at 2nd post allowed Edenhurst to add a further 6 rounders to their first innings score giving them an equalising 8½ rounders total to draw the game.
