Smallwood World Book Day

We have had a fun Smallwood World Book Day.

Firstly, the real treat of wearing pyjamas to school (but thankfully for me, no reason to stop on the way to school). Next, an assembly to celebrate our love of books.

Maria Whatton shared her stories with each year group; we were spell bound.

Thank you for your generosity. The […]

Pancakes and Toys

Reception have had a busy week. We celebrated Pancake Day by tossing pancakes and eating them with sugar, lemon or chocolate filling. Everyone agreed they were delicious!

We also had a visit from Mrs Pate, who showed us some toys from long ago. The children enjoyed playing with […]

Saint Chad’s Day Celebrations

On Monday, the Pre-Prep celebrated Saint Chad’s day with a special assembly and the traditional treasure hunt. After listening to stories about Saint Chad’s life, the children eagerly followed clues to discover pictures of events in his life. They thoroughly enjoyed racing around the grounds in the beautiful spring sunshine to […]

Back with a Splash!

Pre-Prep 1 and 2 started swimming again today.  They were all keen and confident to jump in and demonstrate their best swimming style.  They all had a great time and were fantastic in the water – well done Pre-Prep 1 and 2.

Under 11/10 Netball v Lichfield Cathedral School

Smallwood Manor: 8      6: Lichfield Cathedral School

Smallwood Manor visited Lichfield Cathedral School in an under 11/10 combined match.  After losing the toss (Smallwood wrongly opting for the left hand to be holding the leaf when it was in fact in the right) Lichfield decided to take the first centre pass but a key interception lead […]

Under 11 Netball v Edenhurst

Smallwood Manor: 4       3: Edenhurst

With Edenhurst playing netball for an additional term compared to Smallwood Manor, this was always going to be a great test to the under 11s unbeaten run.  However, it is a test they stood up to in a marvellous manor.  The team were super quick in both passing and movement and […]

Under 10 Netball v Edenhurst

Smallwood Manor: 11  –  6: Edenhurst

Edenhurst visited Smallwood Manor bringing with them a very strong team who had been able to spend an extra term preparing for this fixture.  Despite this, Smallwood were determined to put on a show for the watching spectators to demonstrate the silky skills they have learned throughout the term.  A […]

Under 9 Netball v Terra Nova

Under 9 Netball v Terra Nova

Smallwood Manor: 1   –   3: Terra Nova

The under 9s played a very determined Terra Nova team who proved just a little too strong over the final moments of the game.  Smallwood had played a fantastic game of passing and moving throughout, with captain Isabelle Ast spreading the play evenly throughout […]

Under 8 Netball v Terra Nova

Smallwood Manor: 0      0: Terra Nova

Smallwood Manor under 8s played their first competitive game of netball against a well-drilled Terra Nova team.  Smallwood, led ably by team captain Lola were incredible at sharing the workload amongst the whole team.  With a magnificently strong defence and despite swift counter attacking movements to try and catch Terra […]

Polished Poetry Performances

Wow! What a wonderful afternoon of poetry! I was so impressed by the standard. Mrs Beetham and I had a very, very difficult time deciding on the winners. None the less we did make a choice. Congratulations to Henry, the winner of the Junior Cup, and Paddy, the winner of the Senior Cup.

The House Cup […]
