Nocturnal Visitors!

Pre-Prep 2 have been busy finding out which animals visit the wildlife garden at night. They have baited the tracker sand with dog food and recorded the nocturnal animals with a trail camera. They expected to see badgers, foxes, hedgehogs and maybe Tiger, the school cat! So far, they have seen only foxes […]

Last Friday Pre-Prep 2 started to learn hockey. They have discovered how to hold their hockey sticks, how to pass the ball and how to keep safe! They all listened intently to Miss Bennett and are looking forward to putting their skills into action in a game!

Family Matters …

I have just returned from the Woodard Heads’ Annual Conference. There is no other conference like this; Woodard is unique, gathering together into one family a rich variety of schools including long-established public schools, independent junior schools, state academies and now schools abroad. Map Skills in Form 3

Form 3 have been working hard using atlases to find out where all the tropical rainforests are in the world. If you venture into their classroom you will notice that a rainforest is springing up all around them. I just hope there are no jaguars hiding under the tables!

This match was very encouraging from the point of view that throughout the game, Smallwood played some very good football in parts. The game started positively and we created a few chances in the early stages, only to be caught by the counter attack. This seemed to knock a little of the confidence out of […]

A Wet and Muddy Start to the Football Season for the Under 9s!

After a week of almost torrential rain and a playing surface that was more suited to mud wrestling, the U9 boys’ A team took to the field against a very strong opposition from the Elms.

After winning the toss, captain Henry M elected to kick downhill and the boys got their season underway. The Smallwood boys […]

Camels and Kings!

The children came back to school one day after the Epiphany but we still remembered the three kings visiting the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. Pre-Prep 2 enjoyed being in the ‘hot seat’ as kings and answering questions about their journey to Bethlehem. Some answers are definitely not in the Bible – did […]
